The following pictures include a variety of activities and events during my tour of duty. The first group of photographs involve a typical airmobile mission. We would be told to get ready for the mission and meet at a staging area, usually the helicopter landing pad or field. When the choppers arrived, 4 to 6 troopers got on board each helicopter. The helicopter was manned by a pilot, copilot, a crew chief and a doorgunner. Below are pictures of a patrol returning from its mission in Huey helicopters.
Various activities at camp involved cleaning and maintaining the mortar, as well as the M-16 weapons and practicing fire missions. Guard duty was also assigned from time to time. Meals were flown in by helicopter at least once a day and there were often supplies such as fresh eggs which allowed us to cook them ourselves.
